Ageing

I have not been feeling well, lately. I blame it on my hormones working against me. In short, I am at that crucial pause of my life..the 'meno' pause.Ihave been 'popping' pills, vitamins, neuro vitamins, pain killers as in panadol & some other antibiotics. Vision Pharmacy is making tons of money from me because without fail I would go there at least once a day,if not for me,it would be for my mum or husband. My gums are 'shrinking' and I get gum ache every now & then, & had had to have a tooth extracted some months ago even though the tooth was still good. The dentist was a bit annoyed when I accused him of not doing a good job 'matikan' the nerves of that particular tooth..root canal something lah & it wasn't cheap. My body just keep aching for no apparent reason. AND I HATE it when friends say that it's "sakit tuai".
I used to say that when my mum complained of body ache..now I know that is not a kind thing to say. Be more sympathetic to people's plight or pain instead of the standard comment..Ageing..Udau tuai..sudah tua. What a thing to say!.
This morning ever since my mum has been seeing the doctor for her toe dressing for the past 3 weeks due to diabetes,I asked the doctor to examine me. I told him that I felt a sharp pain somewhere on my right arm especially at night. Last time I blamed it on the birds' pooh/tai burung because I had to wash away the dirt. Now I cannot blame it on the pooh. I was worried it could be something else because Cath described to me the symptoms she experienced before she knew she had breast cancer. I was quite worried that MCMC had not called back to let us know the result of the mammogram until late this afternoon when Julia called to say that the result is okay. Praise God for that... anyway about the pain on my right arm, I hope it's just some nerve pain.
The good doctor attending to my mum, Dr. Peter Lee warned me that I should lose weight and to control the food I take because the likelihood that I get diabetes is hIGH! No more COCA-COLA,..you name it..all the nice food is a NO>>NO>>NO.!!! I see my poor mum's toe is having a hard time healing but thank goodness her blood sugar count from 19 has gone down to 6.2 today. For this CNY she was only given a segment of the sweet orange & that she had to let it stay in the mouth for a few minutes before swallowing it. Itu limau tidak bagus..manyak jahat..ko doctor. Every food is JAHAT.

Death is universal. It happens to one & all.
It is only a matter of time. We are only separated from Gen by TIME. She is only going ahead of us. We are all going to where Gen has gone to...sooner or later.
..so said the Lord Bishop.

Facing Death

I am compelled to write something on DEATH,the much avoided word but unavoidable destination when one's time is up in this borrowed world. I know it sounds eerie to be writing my thoughts on this subject but it is a good topic to discuss for one never knows when death comes knocking at one's door. As it happened, late yesterday afternoon, we received a phone call from Sue to say that Gen had just died at Sarawak General Hospital,Kuching after a few months of illness. She was about 51 years old. According to Mak Aling, she did not expect her to die so soon because there had been times when she had felt worst than that. As all good christians know, the good Lord, being the perfect time keeper knows what timing is best. So,He takes her to be with Him now.
To most of us, the timing was most unappropriate because as all of us are aware, during CNY most things almost come to a halt..a complete stop. The flights are fully booked. The funeral wake is tonight and the funeral service is tomorrow at 1pm. We would only be able to attend the church service because our flight is early tomorrow morning. I did not realise that Air Asia only has one flight from Miri to Kuching & Kuching to Miri. There used to be 2 flights in a day. The airfare is something else. Talk about it being a LOW COST or BUDGET airline..we had to pay almost RM1000/- for 2 persons return...only available at the airport..none left for internet booking. MAS tickets?? NONE!
Nowadays, death does not only hit at the older folks but the young ones are being called back early too, much to our fear. I remember a friend who died sometime in May last year at about 45 years old. She was busy caring for her aged father who was always in & out of hospital because of old age;a husband who's always sick and a daughter who had just given birth. She was so concerned for her father's & husband's health that she neglected hers..yes, she died in her sleep. Little did anybody know she would go before the two sick persons that she took care of. Another friend died less than 2 weeks ago from lung cancer at age 54. She was a picture of perfect health when she did her brisk walking last year, often overtaking me as she swayed her arms/hands while walking.
How prepared are we when faced with death?
If one should die tonight,do you think you would go to heaven? This is a favourite question by one of the priests.
How is our personal relationship with God and our eternal salvation?
Is your house in order?
I'd better stop before this topic gets into me.
