Bbuurrpp!! What's that pungent smell?

Ever been on a plane/car or enclosed room where somebody who had eaten durian suddenly belched/burped? Errgghh! Not even the most expensive perfume sprayed into the air couldwipe away the pungent smell of a by product of digested/indigested durian. Come across a question somewhere which goes like this: What fruit is shaped like hedgehog & smells like compost? Apuuu!!!How could people say such thing about the KING of fruits? I have not known any of the famous food tasters of Travel & Living Channel who likes durian. That guy who boasted he could eat all the bizzare foods in the world including the sago worms 'vomitted' when the 'creamy custard like' flesh of the durian entered his tongue.
Just imagine..if the orang putih like durian, then there would be durian ice cream on sale at Marks & Spark's, durian cheesecake sold at Sainsbury's ,durian fresh cream fillings on the all time favourite chocolate eclairs at Bentall's in Kingston Upon Thames or at that small bakery/cake shop at Surbiton. The aroma from the durian filling the air as one walks leisurely, window shopping along Oxford Street...durian flavoured chocs sold at Harrod's and durian flavoured kopi at Waterloo train station. Ya,just imagine!

The reason behind this posting is,about 2 days ago, Joe (Joe who? Uchak Jusip lah..ya,) sent a text: "I just saw durians on sale in London."
Wonder how the orang putih sell the durians in London?" Probably wearing mask covering the nose. The price,no doubt, would probably be prohibitively expensive.
My reply was:"They( the durians) must be expensive. If you want to offend your friends, just eat durian, then belch/burp in front of them and see their reactions. Excuse me..Bbbuurrpp!"
See how far your friends 'flee' after the emission of the durian gas. ha..ha..

Not that many durians in Miri..saw a van or two hawkering outside RHB near Boulevard Commercial Centre.

Ever tried durian jam? Nyamai...

Call Kerunsin..

The writing on the rear glass of this van reads:" Call me if you want to cut grass"
( Should be:"Call me if you want to have your grass cut.")
Yes, if you want someone to cut your grass, call Gabriel Kerunsin and he will cut the grass for you.

To make the afternoon a non sleepy affair, chef Florence did the joget with some of the ladies.

Dress rehearsal for the Opening of the Legal Year 2008

To wear or not to wear the wig? D has not made up his mind whether to wear the wig or not but Angking said he would be wearing his, regardless.. Tomorrow,in Miri, there will be a parade by Sarawak lawyers to mark the Opening of the Legal Year 2008. The lawyers are requested to be present at the lobby of Imperial Hotel by 7.30am and from there they will walk past Ming Cafe, into Jalan Sylvia before turning to the Miri Court House. So, this evening,D tried on the gown & so forth and still not sure whether to put on the wig while walking from Imperial Mall to the Court House.

Randau Pondok @Bulatan Park (2)

Cath & Cecilia
4. Sickness & Health:
The park is full of brisk walkers and joggers. Maklumlah, beginning of the year, new year resolutions to keep fit and healthy. Cath has started her brisk walking this year. Praise be to God for restoring her back to good health after a year of chemo & radiotherapy for breast cancer & for having uplifted her spiritually throughout her ordeal. Her hair is slowly growing back. Thank you,Lord. That brings the topic of mammography. Julia & I had ours done at Miri City Medical Centre yesterday. The mammography costs RM140/- One has to see Dr. Lee first(i.e. if you are going to MCMC),then he checks the breasts before sending you to the x-ray department on the 1st floor of MCMC. A lady does the x-raying,so no malu malu business. I had a bit of a problem with mine because of the excess fatty tissues on the dada/chest. The 'roller' of the mammo machine had a field day rolling and compressing the nen nen/breasts and so did the x-ray lady trying to 'gather' the nen nen in the square for photo taking. If you do not know what I am talking about, (the ladies,I mean)it's about time to go to the good doctor to have your nen nen checked. The result will be out in a week's time cos the x-rays are sent somewhere for a radiologist to interpret/read. O please dear Lord, I pray that the x-ray results would come out okay.

Randau ba pondok di Bulatan Park (1)

Kami sebuat, munyi ko gramong, enti udah badu ngeliling Bulatan Park, kami sebuat lalu duduk ba pondok berandau ke utai ke bisi nyadi. Nyadi topik kami kemari maioh bendar, start ari:
1. Sunday BPOST pasal duit EPF;pros & cons of EPF to pension scheme.
A friend said he would take it easy next year when he turns 55 & gets his RM 500,000 from EPF. Could he afford to take it easy? Indai Horn said that she's happy with her pension next year..not much but at least there's some cash every month. A said he's OMM while everybody is OKK. (Orang Miskin Miskin & Orang Kaya Kaya)
2. The translation of the Chinese writing on the wall of a kopitiam at Poh Kwong Park,Kuching which goes like this:' A man's greatest REGRET is not spending all his money before he dies. A man's greatest TRAGEDY is spending all his money and still goes on living.'
Which catergory would I fall into? The second one, I would think.
3. A lady I used to know died last year at 56 years of age because of some complications being diabetic. Her husband had the shock of his life when he discovered she had RM1m in savings. You see, her husband's a lot older than her,so she probably thought it wise to do savings for rainy days. Yes, the sun doesn't always shine, the rain must surely come another day. Pity she died before her husband.
4.Health & Sickness: I'll continue later..bedau breakfast.

Oh Diana!

Hi Diana, We only got to see your comment yesterday. Funny how we can 'meet' by blogging. Your abang Wit has a blog but no entry yet..probably waiting for 'inspiration'..cheh.! Ani also reads this blog..don't know whether Seripah reads this blog though I do see a Japanese flag once in a while at the FeedJit box. I assume it's her because Mak Aling told us that she's moved to Japan...otherwise who else in Japan would want to read the blog, kan & who else in the US would read this blog if not you or Kumang, kan. Ha..ha.. How's Kumang? Hope all of you are doing fine there.
We're doing fine here. We went to Kuching sometime in November, did not manage to see your parents because it was raining throughout our 3 day stay there and needless to say, your chey chey Judy was the driver throughout our stay there. She's busy helping Angking running the B&B. Her job scope includes fetching tourists to & from airport, hands the keys to check- in guests ( by internet booking only) & machine- washes the bed linens. AMU on the run! She just came back from London when we met;abang Wit said chey chey Judy just got back doing 'family service' ( looking after her chuchu Christopher...Christopher this..Christopher that...I could hear/feel the 'LOVE' vibratingfrom her voice when she cerita to me about Christopher).
We had a late night drink with Mak Aling & Sue. The next day,we visited Gen. Now abang Wit doesn't have to go to Kuching for his eye check because Miri General Hospital has an eye specialist now. My cerita almost coming to an end. I have to go for now. take care!

Guess who that bared-back 'lady' is ?

For regulars of Yamano's hair salon, please guess who that 'lady' is? (back facing us)
1 gift voucher of RM10/- will be given to the 1st person who gets the right answer.

Yang Yang & Hie Hie's wedding reception

A very happy Mr. & Mrs. Yeo,towkay & towkay neo (proprietors) of GK Supermarket smiling away, seeing their eldest son ,Yang Yang, ending his bachelorhood. How do I look? How do I look? Do I look funny? asked Mr. Yeo who had not been seen in a suit for quite a while, seeking assurance from us to restore his confidence. You look fine, Mr. Yeo & I must say, Mrs. Yeo looks like a filmstar from channel Wah Lai Toi.

An excited Hie Hie & Yang Yang, officially called 'Lau Po' & 'Lau Kong'. (old woman & Old Man...or just plain 'wife & husband')
