Motto: Towards Maximum Excellence
This morning,at the invitation of Ms. Florince Christy,CEO of Maxcel Institute of Management, about 12 committee members of SIDS,Miri attended the 7th Graduation Ceremony of the said educational institution. YB Senator Dato Sri Empiang Jabu came all the way from Kuching to grace the convocation ceremony. About 58 students received their scrolls this morning. The Dewan Usun Apau was packed by the graduating students, staff, parents & well wishers. After the welcoming address by Ms. Florince Christy,YB Senator Dato Empiang Jabu delivered her speech touching on the realities of life that the students would be facing once they're out in the real world. Be streetwise. Some may find that the course or the chosen field of studies they did might not be at all related to the job that they would eventually end up doing. She did some sharing on her experiences as a teacher, mother, wife & politician. She advised the graduates that though there're a lot of things that they know through their education, advice or rather words of wisdoms from parents should not be ignored. Parents should not be afraid to tell their children off if they are found to be doing things that they should not be doing. She also added, to go beyond 'one graduate per family'. The giving of the scrolls followed soon after that & then the photo taking session.
According to Ms. Florince, her students are well sought after by the service/hospitality industries. A few of the students could not make it for the ceremony as they were away working. If dear readers have children who are interested to be in the hospitality & management industires, please do visit the institute. They also have twinning programmes with some universities in UK & Australia.
