In sickness ..................

We just got back from Miri General Hospital after visiting Joey,husband to Uchuku,who was admitted yesterday for an infection on his upper inner thigh and he is due for surgery anytime now after the surgeon is done with some more pressing cases. He was supposed to go under the knife last night but there were 3 cases of complicated childbirths that warranted C- section to be done immediately so, he has to wait until now. A patient just passed away at the Ward just now. We managed to see Belayong at the ward with his hands still tied to the sides of the bed because each time he is awake,his hands tend to get restless. Belayong,whose late mother was a 2nd cousin to Ini Sudan was involved in a self-accident on Xmas day when the Kancil he was driving, crashed into a tree somewhere near Bumiko. Two other passengers escaped almost unhurt but Belayong suffered the most..something like 8 broken ribs,chest injury & a big bump at the back of his head...according to his daughter.His eyes were open when we were there but he did not show any sign of acknowledging our presence. One cannot help thinking...life is like the flame on the wick of the candle. The flame can just easily be extinguished by a little sweep of a breeze. SIGH..................
