BETONG

Mini Putrajaya....
The Administrative Precinct
The town centre

Betong Plaza Hotel

On our way to & from Samu we made a stop at Betong. Most times when we went to Betong, they were made on Gawai eve...not much sightseeing could be done because it's people-seeing. A day or two before Gawai would be a good time to 'jejak kasih' on the narrow streets of Betong & the likelihood that you bump into old friends is extremely high. The town square is still as it has been but outside the square..much,more & many progress & development can be seen.

Pekan Lachau...

The 'Atomium" ala Lachau

She ain't heavy..she's my sister/friend.

The many faces of people....

He ain't heavy..he's my brother/son

These nice carvings greet people who make a stop either to buy the goods on sale there or for a toilet stop. I thought they're quite interesting to look at..wonder who the craftsman/men were...with such creativity & imagination...lots of both as I can see from the details..if you know what I mean.

Since it was the long weekend,we decided to go back to Samu to see the folks there because it had been quite a while since we last visited them..about 2 gawais ago. D's nephew drove us there after the Good Friday service at St. Basil's Church in the morning. The ride took a good 4 1/2hrs..we took our time...enjoying the scenery.

Peace Town

Spotted the supposedly 'lost' pair of doves ......

Didn't see nor smell any durians along this lane (despite being named Jalan Durian )when we make a toilet stop at the nearby coffeeshop.

The last time we stopped by at Sri Aman was when we were on our way back after visiting Nico at the Bukit Saban Khidmat Negara Camp in 2004. Dulles always has fond memories of his school days at St. Luke's Secondary School & since we had some time to 'kill' so we 'toured' the town of Sri Aman.
We headed to the KFC outlet for a late lunch..didn't know anywhere better to go. If 'mund had been around,it would be nice to sit down with the Deputy Resident of Sri Aman for lunch.
