In Prosperity our friends know us;in adversity we know our friends.

Say Moi ever told me that a person no matter how high he ever was at one time of his career/success, he would one day come down. She was telling me about the so called 'vicious cycle'. According to what she read, a person's UPs & DOWNs would last for 10 years, then somebody else would take one's place. For example, if you had been at the peak of your career/business for the past ten years, be prepared for the worst. The causes would probably be bad decision makings & or being imprudent. God also lets other people have the chance to make good of themselves, she said. There would be so many other things that could contribute to one's downfall. Sustaining your position would be the hardest ,which if you have no luck, would cause you to eventually go down the ladder or hill.
For the person who was down and out for the past 10 years, you could be in luck. He would finally be climbing his way up the ladder of success. It would be good to 'crawl' slowly up the ladder or hill than to race oneself to the top. When one races oneself to the top, it might be too much to handle;exhaustion and when one finally reaches the top,one could easily get lost in space. The new found blessing would become too hot to handle.
My thoughts for today.........
In short, when you are rich and mighty, remember the poor, don't mix with the rich because when you are poor, not even the dog would want to bark at you. When you are poor, don't despair, you have a chance to be successful. Count from 1yr to 10yrs.

Oxford..Oxford

I see from the Feedjit thingy that somebody from Oxford is reading my blog. Whoever you are, welcome to my blog. I wonder how Oxford looks like now apart from the University colleges that would still look the same. I used to live at 362, Cowley Road. Most of us students stayed around Cowley Road,Ilfley Road and Headington for those who studied at Oxford Polytechnic, now called Oxford Brookes University. Most of the other Malaysian students stayed with Pakistani families as most of them owned houses there, from Leopold street right to Crown Street. Just by the side of my rented place was a shop selling newspapers, packets of crisps (Walkers) & chocolates. There used to be about 2 Bed & Breakfast accomodations just across the road. Further down the road, about less than 5 minutes' walk was an Italian restaurant,a pub, then followed by a short stretch of shops. 2 friends,Tony & Philip used to rent a place at Leopold Street. A Greek couple who roasted the best chickens traded not far from a shop called Raja Brothers'. At Raja Brothers' one could get a lot of things halal & non halal. Why do I say that? They sold 'halal' meats and at the same time they sold alcohol. The place was popular among Malay students who got their regular food ration from Raja Brothers'. Opposite Raja Brothers' wasTesco supermarket and some restaurants including a Chinese restaurant. I forget what it was called...except the Pakistani restaurant which I can remember being called Kashmir Restaurant. If I could turn back the clock I would like to set it back to when I was in Oxford. I wonder whether a restaurant called Kam Hong that served the best Dim Sum & Opium Den,not far from the train station still exist. I wonder...still I wonder and I wonder.

Hujan ditengah ari (Raindrops in the afternoon)

Akai..tusah endar bi-lingual pama nulis blog aku tu laban bisi bala enda nemu jako /macha Iban. Sinu ga meda, enti aku enda nulis dalam jako orang putih.
I'll try my best to be bi-lingual when writing my blog though the message and the meaning/humour (if any) would vary slightly when translating from Iban to English.

It is raining heavily outside but I like the rain because it would mean I do not have to drive D to the park to walk. Of course D would be disappointed because he enjoys his evening walk at the park after several hours of tedious sitting at the office. At times, he would beat the rain by taking out an umbrella to cover his head and still does his usual brisk walking. Before Xmas, despite the dark clouds which were about to fall, he still went on walking until the raindrops just got too heavy for him to handle plus the thunder & lightning, only then that he decided to stop...took shelter at the canteen, waited for me to bring the umbrella to him. At that time, there were only 3 of them, stranded at the park.
It's Friday again tomorrow..it seems like only yesterday that a few of us had tea at Aseanika's & it was drizzling as well. Gosh!..how time flies. I think it's going to rain again on Friday..why?..because it's tamu day.
Yesterday was the 2nd of January,2008 and I wanted to check out the crowds at the various banks who are agents of ASB;my..my..the banks're 'flooded' with people and so was it this morning. Somehow,I managed to push my ASB books to 2 friends at the counter but couldn't jump the queue because I didn't want them to get into trouble. The waiting was not that long.'(wait-able)'(ulih di anti) Ngagai bala ke udah update balance, anang enda belanja ngirup ice lemon tea ba aseanika pagila.

What's in a name?Puchong=Telu

You know, that Interchange/Flyover which was thought to be called Puchong Interchange has been renamed to Setia Raja Manai Interchange out of respect for the Kedayan and Malay communities in northern Sarawak & Brunei & the new name Setia Raja Manai Interchange reflects Miri's history and State's close ties with Brunei, said the CM. According to a Kedayan ADUN,..listen to this.. Puchong is an unpalatable name. Puchong in Kedayan refers to the male genital. WHAT!!!!??? Yes,Puchong in Kedayan refers to the male genital and an ADUN of Kedayan descent pointed that out. Nya meh bala kaban, perkembangan cerita Puchong reti nya 'Telu', ukai ga 'Telu Buruk'....cut..cut...

The Opening of once called 'Puchong' Interchange

I didn't realise the opening ceremony of this interchange to take place this morning until I switched on Radio MiriFM, then I heard the CM giving his speech. Yesterday,on the way back from church service, while waiting for the traffic jam to ease a bit,we managed to get 3 shots of the new flyover. Amat je..jampat TPK ngaga utai. Heard there's a new name for the flyover/road. Heard Puchong is not suitable a name.. will find out more, cos I have not been out of the house this morning as I'm cleaning the house. Not good to let the dust of 2007 to be carried forward to 2008. BAD Feng Shui, so said LToo.
