Kumang/Keligit & Keling-Belawan Contests

Miri Divisional Gawai Celebration 2008 Organising Committee will be organizing the above mentioned contests on 17th May,2008 at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club,Miri.
There would be 4 catergories namely:
Kumang Iban
Keligit Orang Ulu
Kumang Bidayuh
Keling-Belawan (Open )
The Kumang/Keligit from the each catergory will get RM1000/-
1st runner up will get RM800/-
2nd runner up will get RM600/-
Remaining finalists (3 x) will get RM300/- each.

The Keling-Belawan will get RM700/-
1st runner up will get RM600/-
2nd runner up will get RM500/-
Remaining finalists (3 x ) will get RM200/- each.

Elimination Round:

If there are more than 6 contestants in each catergory,then there will be an elimination round on 11th May,2008 at the Musical Corridor, Eastwood Valley, Golf & Country Club,Miri at 7.00pm.

The Dress code for the ladies will be the Kebaya while for the men,it will be Long Sleeves Batik

Only 6 finalists will be selected for the final in each catergory.

There will be a briefing for all contestants on Friday,9th May,2008 at Rumah Dayak,Miri at 7.00pm. All contestants are expected to attend the briefing.

Anugerah Juara Lagu Iban Terbilang ke 4 di Miri Indoor Stadium

sayau gambar tu enda ulih di peda laban nadai light teluk dia....because this is the moment I want those who were at the Indoor Stadium Miri to know what made the event last night run smoothly was the effort by these 3 DJs,namely Mary Bajang, Margaret Anis & Simon Sutie who prayed behind the big screen/stagebefore the event kicked off. It goes to show..that praying is a good thing,no matter what the event or function, never take anything for granted. Amen to that....

Arrival of DP Jabu ba Stadium Tertutup Miri kena malam 26hb April to officiate the function. He spoke a good 20 mins to a crowd estimated to be about nearly 4000 people present last night and he did mention that he was equally excited as the rest of us to watch the singing.He gave a grant of RM10,000 to RTM Club & another RM10,000 for next year's function.

Shaking hands saying "How do you do?" to the VIPs seated at the front rows. The VIPs made up of RTM officials,local YBs,Tememggong Atong,Temenggong James Jimbun Pungga who's accompanying his wife,Puan Senorita Linang who was invited to be a judge for the singing. Together with her were two other judges in the form of Ellison Ludan & Ernesto Kalom.

Wat Enjop's opening act was playing the sape and bisi mansut ke siti dua bungai ajat iya. His closing act was blowing out 'fire' from his mouth. Must be some very high concentration of langkau that he used to produce such a flame.

Rancak diri bala dancers tu bergelek-gelek berdangut...bala dancers ke lelaki bisi maioh 'kewanitaan' ba sida,nya bala chapuh meda sida ngelingkok ke punggung. Seated a few seats away from me were some young ladies who had a great time 'wooing' & cheering the singers and dancers. I saw myself in those young girls,having a good time. I remember, at times when one is with the right crowd,a non happening evening can turn out to be an enjoyable one with the cheering and the jeering. ( there's a devil in us sometimes)
